Mothers and More (Atlanta Chapter)

During the 2000 GA General Assembly Session, (HB 39, which amends Code Section 15-21-1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated )  was filed providing an exemption from jury duty for primary caregivers of children under age 4.

The Atlanta Chapter of Mothers and More worked with the bill's sponsor by meeting with him at the State Capitol in November 2000. He suggested that (their) best support would come in the form of letter writing, so, as a chapter (they) embarked on a letter-writing campaign.

The outcome: the bill passed both the state House and Senate, and was signed into law by Gov. Roy Barnes in late May 2001. Power to all of (Members of he Atlanta Chapter of Mothers and More) who worked for its passage!
